Friday 17th April Trefonen and Moelydd, undulating walk with migrant birds and very interesting plants. Lane, track, marsh, farmland, stream, wet woodland and Moelydd Hill along Offa’s Dyke Path. Organisers – Jacky Leather, Sue Southam. By car (SJ261269)

Tuesday 5th May Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway – an exciting biodiversity survey of the railway length to guide trackside management. Grassland, woodland, hedgerow, scrub, and riverside. Leave Llanfair Caereinion by train. Organiser – Andy Hughes. By car (SJ106068)
Tuesday 2nd June Gronant Dunes Nature Reserve, North Wales Coast, near Prestatyn. The only breeding colony of Little Terns in Wales plus salt marshes, sand dunes, scrub, reedbeds and Visitor Centre. Organisers – Nicola Wheeler, Liz Wilson and Judy Abbey. By coach (SJ090837)
Monday 29th June Corndon Hill, Mitchell’s Fold, Stapeley Hill, Lyn Fawr, Tyn y Bryn Meadow. Birds of prey, skylarks, rare ferns, stone circle, organic meadow, terrific views. Organisers – Philippa Young, Lizzie Beare. By car (SO294973 – Priest Weston)
Thursday 16th July The Bog, Stiperstones – range of circular walks with pools, spoil heaps, woods, rock outcrops, meadows and quiet lanes. Breeding site of rare Grayling butterfly. Excellent visitor centre. Organisers – Sue and Steve Southam. By car (SO356978)

Saturday 1st August Fron Heulog, Pentre Llifior, near Berriew. 9.5 acres mature, all-season garden. Meadow, conservation grassland, wildlife pond, dingle and wonderful views. Organisers – Sue Hughes and Julie Pearce. By car (SO145979)
Wednesday 2nd September Gilfach Nature Reserve (Radnorshire Wildlife Trust). Moorland, meadows, oak woodland, rocky upland river, traditional hill farm, a wealth of interesting flora and fauna, glorious views. Organisers – Julie Pearce and Jane Phillips. By car (SN962718)
Sunday 11th October Coed Pendugwm – fungus foray. Privately owned woodland adjoining a Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust reserve, part of which is designated an SSSI. Mixed woodland, stream and ponds. Organisers – Judy Abbey and Jane Phillips, with Les Hughes (mycologist). By car (SJ103143)

Winter Programme 2026/2027
Saturdays 2.30pm in the Methodist Church, Welshpool SY21 7JP (except for December’s Christmas Lunch). There is a £3 charge on the door for non-MFS members, with tea available for all at a small cost.
